S3-compatible storage that shows every backup run and emails you when one fails or stops. For your computers, your servers and your apps.
S3-compatible with advanced features for modern applications
Works with AWS S3 SDKs and tools out of the box
No charge for uploads or API requests; downloads up to 3 times what you store each month are included
Your data stays in one European data centre, in Frankfurt, Germany
Your keys reach your buckets and nothing else
Every backup run and your space used, on your dashboard, and an email if a backup fails or stops
Data encrypted at rest and in transit
Most storage just holds your files. Ours also tells you when your backups have stopped, before the day you need them.
Duplicati on your computers, or your own script on your servers: a database dump, restic, rclone, Laravel or Django.
Your dashboard shows each computer and server, every backup, its size and a success rate over 30 days.
An email the first time a backup fails, and when one stops arriving on schedule. Even when the backup app itself goes quiet.
Choose the plan that fits your storage needs
Six situations we see often. If yours isn't here, tell us what you're storing and we'll say whether this is the right tool.
Scanned pleadings, contracts and discovery accumulate for years and can rarely be deleted. Keep them off the office server and out of personal Drive accounts, with access keys only your firm holds.
KYC documents, loan files and board minutes, retrievable years later without anyone opening a filing cabinet. Each account gets its own credentials, so access is yours alone.
Most cloud providers bill you to download your own material. Here uploads are free and each month you can download up to 3 times what you store at no charge, so pulling a shoot back for an edit costs nothing beyond the storage itself.
Nightly database dumps, build artefacts and user uploads, on an endpoint your existing S3 tooling already speaks. No code changes: point the SDK somewhere else.
Exam scripts, certificates, admission files and lecture recordings outlive the laptop they were made on and the person who filed them.
Photographs, survey responses and monitoring reports uploaded from the field, where uploads get interrupted and retried. Transfer is free, so a retry costs nothing.
You can rent storage from anyone. Four things change when you rent it from a company that invoices in your currency and answers the phone in your hours.
Pay by M-Pesa or bank transfer, with an invoice you can download for your accountant. No card in USD, no forex spread, no chasing a receipt from abroad.
Uploads and API requests are free, and each month you can download up to 3 times what you store at no charge. For almost everyone, the number on the plan is the number on the invoice.
Every account gets credentials of its own. Your keys reach your buckets and nothing else. There is no shared master key.
When something breaks at 9am in Nairobi, you are talking to someone who is awake and can act, not queued behind a continent.
This is not a folder that syncs to your desktop. Most customers use it for backups, with Duplicati, the free backup app we recommend and install for SimbaBackup customers. It runs in the background, locks your files with a password before they leave your computer, and copies them to your storage on a schedule. Each button below downloads the installer.
You enter three details once: the endpoint, your access key and its secret. The first two are in your dashboard. The secret is shown only once, when a key is created, and we never store it. If you lose it, create a new key in your dashboard and switch off the old one. Rather have us set it up? That is what SimbaBackup is for, or just ask support.
Keep the S3 library your framework already uses and change three settings. Then add one line to your backup script, and your dashboard watches it for you.
Point your app at your storage (Laravel .env)
AWS_ENDPOINT=https://s3.eu-central-1.simbahost.co.ke
AWS_DEFAULT_REGION=eu-central-1
AWS_USE_PATH_STYLE_ENDPOINT=true
AWS_BUCKET=my-app-uploads
AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID=your-access-key-id
AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=your-secret-access-keyDjango, Node, the AWS CLI, restic and rclone: Use your storage from your app.
Report each backup (end of your script)
curl -fsS -X POST "$REPORT_URL" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"name":"Postgres nightly","status":"success","every_hours":24}'Late or failed, and you get an email. Your report address is on your dashboard. Full example: Report backups from your own scripts.

Everything about object storage
Questions about object storage? We're here to help!
Object storage stands on its own, with no server required. Back up to it with Duplicati or point your own software at it.
